Finished 13 things

I'm finished. It has been fun and I have learned some new things. I would like a gift certicate from Target as my reward. Thanks.

Online Gaming

I have played alot of simple games on the computer such as Solitaire, Bejeweled, Mahjong, and others. I enjoy eating my lunch and playing games on the computer. I played bridge as a competive game. I also tried Runescape to see what it was like. I would say that my favorite game is Mahjong. The AARP site has some good Mahjong and solitaire games.

Online mapping

I took a trip to Nashville, TN, Graceland (Memphis, TN) and Branson, MO. I went to the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville. In Branson I went to the Titanic Museum, "Vicki Lawrence & her Mama", Andy Williams Moon River Theater and Dick Clark's American Band Stand. The traffic was steady but no holdups.

I really like the Google maps for their satellite feature. It is helpful to use with patrons tryong to find places in Mount Pleasant. I have used it to help people find the Social Security office here.

Online Bookmarking

I created an account with Del.icio.us and bookmarked a few sites. I logged into the computer at Reference and was able to access my account and get the bookmarks. I found the site easy to use. The hardest part was remembering my user name on Yahoo.com and the password I used since I haven't used Yahoo for years. I probably won't use Del.icio.us much except when I have different computers in the library. I did share my bookmarks with other people.

Chat and IM

I have used Window Live Messenger for sometime using it to answer reference questions, to talk to work colleagues, and to talk with my daughter Dorothy. I had a conversation with Monica this morning and it went well.

Using the Facebook chat I talked with my sister-in-law Diane Heppner who lives in California. It was fun to get updated on what is going in our lives. The session went well - much faster than email.

Digital downloads

I went to Gutenberg Project and downloaded "A Budget of Christmas Tales by Charles Dickens and others". It has "The Christmas Carol", "The Chimes" and several others by Charles Dickens. There is some Christmas poetry and the origin of the Christmas tree as was told to German children. There are about thirteen different selections in the book.

In eAudiobooks from NetLibrary I downloaded "C.J.'s fate" by Kay Hooper. I had some trouble downloading it. I didn't realize that in the library you still have to connect at home to download a book. But I was successful. I guess I prefer reading in print rather than listening to the book. Reading seems much faster than listening. I do like listening to books on long road trips though.
